Adverb
To remember the basic definition of adverb, one should have add + verb in one’s mind. It means adverbs are the words which add to the meaning of a verb. Adverbs describe the way an action takes place. It shows the manner of that activity. For example
He types slowly.
Anita conveys her message confidently.
Romika asks her questions curiously.
The bold words are verbs and the bold and the underlined words are adverbs.
Difference between Adjective and Adverb
Adjective define the quality of a noun or pronoun whereas adverb defines the quality of a verb.
- Suresh is honest and he does his business fairly.
- Manorama is generous and she talks to everyone politely.
- Nidhi is beautiful and she dresses herself prettily.
- Madhu is intelligent and she takes her decisions well.
Note: here bold words are adjectives which show the quality of the subject (Noun or Pronoun) whereas the bold and the underlined words are adverbs which show the quality of a verb.
Adverb defines the following as well.
